Why I love The Life Book...

So we're armpit deep in the The Life Book project and the Jesus Commandos of @FOECUStudents are absolutely tearing it up! There are so many reasons why The Life Book is more than just a good project. It's not just another thing to do. If were truly about Jesus and his mission things like The Life Book should be THE SINGULAR FOCUS! Here's why:

1. I've heard so many great stories!

Here are a Few Examples:

That's the main reason why I love the Life Book! It creates Gospel Centered Excitement in the students! In short IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS! That means the students get a picture of participating with Jesus on His mission as it relates to their school and their friends! Which is priceless

2. The People Behind it!

I've had limited contact with Carl thru twitter (btw if you think nothing good ever came from twitter... you're wrong Carl following me on twitter was the genesis of FOECUStudents involvement!). He's the Founder/CEO/Writer of the Life Book. And Nakita over the phone. She calls every week to check on our project! She's genuinely concerned for the success of the project and that the Gospel goes forth. I've also had Contact with Adam he's a super legit guy! I enjoyed talking with Him he was encouraging and concerned for the same reasons Katrina was

3. It's well done!

We all know that Church Marketing Sucks. Not so with the Life Book. It's laid out super well! It looks great it's eye catching. Carl did an excellent job of writing the notes in the margins (check it out online to see what I mean). They really help a student process and think about the word of God. In fact he might be on to something as far as study bibles for teens are concerned. I don't just a thought. They do other things well. For example their web strategy is great! They're making excellent use of their website, facebook, twitter, and their blog. This is respectable! Its never annoying they are just leveraging technology to make much of Jesus which I LOVE!

A plea for your involvement:

Yesterday when I was on the phone with Adam he shared a quote with me from the Youth Pastor at FBC Woodstock (Matt Lawson is his name). He said "When it comes to getting the Gospel into the hands of students everything else stops!" My sentiments exactly! We need to be less concerned about an awesome game involving Cheetos and Shaving Cream (which I love playing) an more concerned about mobilizing (to use Greg Stier's word) our students to do the work of the ministry for the Glory of God in Jesus' church (Ephesians 4:12 & Ephesians 3:20)

What is your part? What is getting in the way of your involvement?
